Superior Snowshoeing / day 12

A week ago, the weather was amazing. For a few days, we were hoping that spring was truly on its way. Unfortunately, this past weekend was full of extreme wind warnings and more snow.

Christopher and I made the best of the warm weather before Valentine's Day. We went snowshoeing along the lake.

This is the lake we swim in the summer:
It's like one mega gulp of ice water:
Where the ice is all piled up is a popular beach for swimming:

Hers, Mine, & Ours / Guest Style!

My 30x30 is on pause today!

I must say I was thrilled when Meredith of Yours, Mine, & Ours (like how I tied her blog in my title?... I'm clever like that) suggested we do a little bloggy switcheroo today (we're at her blog today too!). We figured out that we have the same shirt, so here we are styling it in our own ways! I bought mine on clearance at Target, while she thrifted hers:

On Meredith's style, "I tend to belt this thrifted tunic and today was no exception. Using a scarf, I emphasized the waist. Check out my blog to get a mini tutorial on how I use scarves as belts! Woo hoo!" (If you haven't checked out her blog already, get there. Now! She styles on the cheap with thrifted and freepiled clothes. Plus she's hilarious and creative. That necklace she's wearing? She made it! Enough said.)

On my own style, I also chose to belt this outfit. And, true to my skirt-loving style, I wore it under a dress. I only recently began mixing brown and black, but it's a new favorite of mine. I might be taking a day off from the 30x30, but I'd like to pat us on the backs for some sweet remixing. Isn't that the point of the 30x30? The answer is yes!

Since it's awfully cold here today (and always), I actually wore this outfit under a warm sweater:

day 9, 10, 11 / Serious?

Mmk. I might have been rude to a student. I didn't mean to be rude, but now I'm worrying about it. I'm a girl. And I'm a girl that runs things through my mind 2983743x more than the average person. I think. ;-)

Basically, a student asked a really silly question to get attention from classmates. Well, perhaps Student meant this question, but Student usually asks irrelevant questions to get the class off-task. Either way, I responded by asking Student, "Is this a real question?"

I told Christopher this story, expressing my frustration with Student's silly questions throughout the day. Christopher was concerned that I was rude with the student. He asked, "What if Student is scared to ask another question because you asked if Student was serious?"

Good point. I felt about 2 inches tall.

I am praying for patience. I pray daily for my class, their families, and for myself to be the best teacher I can be for them. Apparently I still need more patience. It'll come. I work with mostly teachers that have been teaching for 30+ years. They're.... fantastic. I just wish my fantastic would arrive faster than 30 years from now!

1st Place Pup / day 8

Yesterday, Christopher and Telula did a race together. Telula came in first place in the dog division! She did last year as well. In the human competition, Christopher came in 4th!
Getting ready to line up:
Ready for the start:
IPod ready:
Run or read in a warm car? I went with the latter:
Here they come:
Best. photo. ever! Love the concentration on Christopher... and could Telula be any cuter?!
Eyes of a Tiger:
Christopher is a great runner and he's been thrilled to have a buddy to run with... and keep pace! He has gotten me to run with him on occasion, but he's much faster than me! Plus I'm what you would call a warm weather runner. It's like a fair weather friend, but literal. I am starting to train for summer races, but I'm training indoors on a treadmill. I don't like running when I can see myself exhale. Last summer was my first time racing, thanks to Christopher's encouragement. I did two 5Ks and one 10K. I'm excited to improve my time this coming summer!

Us after our 10K last year. It was my first, but Christopher has done them before:

What I wore... (after the race, of course)
Shirt: Target
Dress: Old Navy
Belt: Target
Necklace: Vintage (was my mom's)
Sweater Tights: KMart
Boots: Steve Madden
